He's Back - Life is Normal
Today was the return of my first born. Life is now back to normal. Upon seeing his precious face, there was much joy and happiness on the faces and in the hearts of all family near. The grandparents left and I was anxious to spend every moment with my little man. And life was back to normal. The normal, loud driving of trains and cars. The normal tantrums of brother hitting sister with train track or stealing toys from one another. The normal clingyness that occurs from both children simultaneously. The normal hugs, snuggles, "I love you's", and bedtime stories. I could not be more joyful. Today, I'm thankful to have my life and have my life back to normal.

Home Alone (or mostly so...)
Well, dear reader, it appears I am on a writing high. Partially because my lively and precarious toddler is away for about a week. You may be grinning, thinking "now that's the life", but I'm missing him and terribly so. However, he is in caring and loving hands so I'm left with nothing to fear..
Therefore, my youngest has the attention of her wonderful mother and father all to herself for about a week. Here are some things I've noticed in our short time as the "3 of us" this last day and half:
1. Our baby is more attached now than ever before.
2. Her interest in playing with toys has emerged (or her fear has dissipated).
3. No one knows just what to do with our extra time or the deafening quiet.
4. Little princess does not like shots but she does like chicken nuggets.
All-in-all, it's been a good day, even if I think of my baby boy every moment of the day. I better work on this whole, momma needs her babies near, because the day will come soon enough when they leave for college, careers, marriages, and babies of their own. And yet, what an incredible moment each of those life events will be.

The Day My Heart Swelled
Oh, dear reader, how I wish I could put into words the love I have for my babies. Never did I imagine I could be so happy. Growing up, the role of "motherhood" really didn't entice me. I have an amazing mother and mother figures that surrounded me during my childhood, but I was (and still am) a selfish being. I wanted a successful career helping people, better lives, and make lots of money. I wanted to travel to the world and learn of God's beauty. I wanted to spoil myself with Starbucks and home decor. I wanted to spend my evenings out at fancy restaurants with my guy.
Then, I got married...young. Then, I got a job teaching. Then, I got pregnant...young. Two of these life events were not part of my plan. The one event I desperately wanted and wanted to be successful at was teaching. And that ended. The last few years have been very difficult as a SAHM as I watch and listen to my friends love their jobs, travel, look always fashionable, and spend evenings out strengthening their marriages with their husbands. And here I rarely have quality time with my guy, really rarely see him. My teaching license has expired. I've not left the states of Indiana, Missouri, and Wisconsin with my husband (although I was incredibly blessed to visit Washington and Oregon), my clothes are worn and covered in stains.
Yet, over the last few months, I'm more than embracing my role as mother, I'm breathing it and I love it. It's taken a while to reach this point, as growing generally does. That now I dread the day I may have to leave my babes to become successful in a career (a career I'm unsure of). I'll no longer have days of lounging in my jammies for the majority of the day, eating simple meals with my little ones. I'll no longer hear the giggles of toddlers as they run around and around in circles. I'll not longer have the opportunity to snuggle in bed while reading books to my kids as they look into my eyes with such awe and complete dependency. One day, I'll no longer have my children with me.
One day, I'll have that job I grew up planning to have (one that I pray I'm successful at). One day, I'll travel the world with my husband and spend evenings out. One day, I'll have nice, stain-free clothes. And the price? I'll have all of that, everything I had dreamed of, without my children. It will be difficult, I'm sure. But just as God has seen me through the changes of my childhood life plan, I know He'll continue to do the same as the kids grow and leave the nest. Then, I'll be able to look at them and see how God has molded them to be the people He made them to be. What an amazing gift to receive! - and I'm blessed now to watch Him move in the hearts of my little ones right now. Right now, that's enough to ease this momma and swell her heart with peace and love.

Hello, dear reader.
Hello, dear reader. This is my attempt to record life as we know it in the Davis household. With each passing day, I feel the weight of this finite world pressing in on me. One day, this world shall pass and I'll be resting with my Heavenly Father in eternal glory and joy. Therefore, there is an urgency to cherish every moment, be grateful and thankful in all circumstances, and a desire to trust always in the Lord. To stay focused on my Father and His will for my family, I want to record the ups and downs, the tears and laughter, the pain and sorrow, and immeasurable blessings that surround my precious family. My hope is that, while you may be far, far away, dear reader, you can feel our love surround you as you read about our encounters with grace and mercy, and hilarity. To feel as though you are deep in the throws of our life; as if we were together in one place and not divided by miles. Sit back, grab a drink, and welcome to our life as we know it.
